This afternoon when I was reading something about design, I come across The 25 Most Creative Designer Resumes You’ll See This Year.

I thought my resume, which is a ebook with background music is already over the top, but I must say those are far more creative.

The sad fact is: will there be any people who would equally appreciate creative ideas as you? What if the recruiter is just a dull person who would be willingly to follow all those rules and traditions?

The other day, with some hesitation I attend a job fair. I cannot help noticing that no one else’s resume is more than one page. I do remember our teacher advised us to make our resume simple and official. But I never thought that the whole university’s students are following the same format. I stood there for quite a few minutes, feeling like I am an alien.

We are in 21st century now, why there are still so many people trying hard to follow? Following is not a bad thing. Sometimes it does bring us some guidance. But is not it too sad when this following becomes a phenomenon or habit?

I always think, what defines a person’s competence is not what you can borrow from others, but what you can learn from others and form your own ideas. In the future world, following is not going to bring you success.

Everyone can follow, but not everyone can lead.
